The Defence of La Haye Sainte Waterloo 18th June 1815, All the
day the French cavalry had been dashing themselves against the Anglo
Allied army strung out on the ridge of Mont St. Jean. The Prussians were
already making their presence felt on the field, everywhere the Allies
were holding. Napoleon now repeated his order to Marshal Ney to
Capture the farmhouse of La Haye Sainte. La Haye Sainte which occupied
the centre of Wellingtons line was a typical typical Belgium farmhouse.
The whole structure was enclosed by barns and stables giving it the
appearance of a small fort. The buildings were separate from the road by
a firm wall with a large wooden gate in it. The house and barn were
joined by cart sheds and other assorted buildings. Stationed in this
farmhouse were 360 men consisting mainly of soldiers of the Kings German
legion under the Command of Major George Barring. Read more in the
